Tranfigured: Witnessing Christ's Radiant Glory
March 01, 2026
As we listen to our gospel today, I'm always amazed at the disciples, these three, that the Lord chose to go with him up on the mountain. I'm sure they were wondering what was gonna happen, what event are we gonna be experiencing today? And he got up there and this incredible event takes place. The Lord has changed in their presence.
They see him in a whole new way. He's become brilliant, not mentally, but in reality, their whole lives would change and his great cloud would come upon them. For the Old Testament, that was a very important event when a crowd would come upon the people, 'cause it showed the power of God. He was in their midst, so they fell prostrate, afraid of what was going to happen, but what happens?
The Lord just touches them and says, do not be afraid. How many times does he have to tell the disciples? Do not be afraid. Throughout his whole ministry, he kept telling them, do not be afraid, yet, they always were. Even to the point of the resurrection. They were still terrified of what was gonna happen to them, and as the Lord would tell them, don't say anything to anyone until after the resurrection.
I'm sure if I saw that event, I'd be running down the mountain to tell everybody what had taken place. You won't believe what we saw yet. They were commanded not to say anything, to be able to be a witness to this great event. And have to keep it inside them. I think for any of us, when we experience something incredible, we want to be able to declare it and they would be able to, but it would take some time.
They would continue to have to go through their ministry that trying to understand who the Lord was, even though it, they had seen the incredible beauty that he was and what he had to offer them, he had, it would take. Another three years for them to totally understand what their commitment was.
Hopefully it won't take that long for us that through the power of the universe that we receive today, we are given that blessing to be able to see Christ in the beauty of who he is, that God has created him for us. Not that he was created because he was with God forever, part of the Holy Trinity. Yet, God gave him to us in a very unique and wonderful way to be able to see his beauty, the grace and the love he has to offer us.
And in turn that we can offer to our brothers and sisters to be faithful stewards of the blessing he has for us, that he has for all his creation. And the Lord continued to bless us and strengthen us through this Lenten season. To examine our own lives so that we can be pure to present to our brothers and sisters, a holy and grace-filled people to bring Christ to one another.
To be that shining star in the midst of a galaxy, of God's creation, to be that witness, that blessing, that grace for one another.
